Label head Keanu Raves returns to Club Unique with a deep & immersive offering after several years spent exploring inspiration both local & abroad. Inspired by the unique scenery of Aotearoa’s South Island West Coast, ‘Rugged Coast’ is driven by dramatic, cold and hard digital synthesis.
EP opener "The View of Views" pairs clinical programming with icy atmospheres, evoking frosty mountains seen in a glacial mirror image. "Buckland Peaks (That's Work)" brings an adventurous energy, with a relentless low end propelling introspective synth hooks towards the peak-time breakbeat rinse out.
"Great Coast Road" begins the journey homeward fueled by energetic & driving drums, sharp FM chord stabs and a captivating vocal hook. Rounding out the release, "Until Next Time" is an unconventional arrangement which swells with nostalgia and a longing for future adventures.

Damian: "For the video I set myself a limitation: I walked into a junk store called Super Trash and would use whatever old found video media I could find, which ended up being a copy of 'Blood Pressure & You' and then camcorder footage of a young man's 21st birthday circa 1999. I then processed the footage through old analog video mixing equipment. VFX artist Joshua Harris responded by making a really cool 3D heart. The video started to synergise in an un canny way alongside Keanu's track, becoming a visual story about excess and the road to cholesterol. I paired all this together with a cyclist's Gopro trip along the actual Great Coast Rd and we have this slightly sinister visual story about the heart and it's journey through life all synched deliriously with Keanu's propelling banger of a track."
