"Crafted for denizens of the night, Junus Orca is not fabricating landscapes but remembering them," ~ Luke Saunders, Happy Mag. Since the release of his debut EP in 2020, Junus Orca has had releases on labels such as NZ’s own Echo Train Records; shared by popular techno outlet HATE, and collaborations like the eerie 'I Did It All' with 03 OG Kamandi. The artist has shown extreme versatility among their releases from electrifying harsh noise, through to ambient soundscapes, and dub-tinged techno dance floor movements. Junus Orca demonstrates their intention to continue down this path of sonic diversity through recent crushing-industrial banger 'Unnamed System' with fellow Ōtautahi artist Social Sport, juxtaposing their forthcoming release with soft synth siren Instant Fantasy for FIS’s eco label Saplings, due to drop later in 2023.

This new record on Club Unique is a true stream of the artist's consciousness; undefined, raw, reflective and melancholic. Lead single ‘PB Possum (These Thoughts Are My Own)’; is a clear example of exactly this with its minimal, clicky percussive notes placed delicately on a pillow of ethereal synthesis allowing the computer generated vocal transmission to take center stage. This emotive transmission takes listeners into the depths of the artist's brain; hypnotizing them with its monotone delivery, then leading them down a path of chaotic yet comforting thoughts. The video for the track is equally as tumultuous; a strobe flashing in the artist's face as they recite their stream of consciousness directly to the camera, reinforcing the contrast of the unhinged transmission against the delicate sonics it lies upon.

‘A True Stream’ is a truly unique and beautifully themed 7 track offering, leaving itself open for interpretation to find your own narrative within.
